EVANSVILLE, Ind. — We’re bringing you Tri-State restaurant happenings and food news you need to know. Here’s the latest.
The Barrel House, the new bar and grill by the owners of Chaser’s on Franklin Street, will open June 20. The restaurant is in the completely remodeled former Show-Me’s building near Showplace East Cinemas. The menu will have casual bar favorites such as flatbreads, burgers and sandwiches, large entree salads and much more.

Doc’s Sports Bar & Grill and the Old Fashioned Butcher Shoppe will host Steak Night on Wednesday, June 15, beginning at 6 p.m. Dinners include a strip steak, baked potato, green beans and a dinner roll and are $25. Proceeds will benefit the Harwood Booster Club https://www.facebook.com/harwoodboosters.

The Evansville Community Development Annex will host a pre-Juneteenth party on Thursday, June 16, from 7-10 p.m. with dinner by the Smokin’ Pig barbecue and live Jazz music by Eric Scales with a sit-in jam session at 9 p.m. Dinner includes a non-alcoholic drink and glass of wine. Guests must make a reservation to attend.

The Evansville Tennis Center will host an auction and dinner at the Evansville Country Club on Thursday, June 16, beginning at 6 p.m. with a silent auction. Dinner will be served at 7 p.m.. Tickets are $50 or a table of eight for $350.

Great Harvest Bread Co. and Café will re-open Friday, June 17, at 7 a.m. The café serves bread, sweet baked goods, sandwiches and more.

Kim’s Chuck Wagon is a new food truck bringing comfort food to the streets of Evansville. On the menu are chuck wagon and sloppy joe sandwiches, sloppy nachos, pimento cheese spread and more.

Myriad Brewing Company in Evansville will host a barbecue fundraiser on Saturday, June 18, from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. for the upcoming Victory International Film Festival. Call to pre-order slabs of ribs for $27 or eat in. A plate is $12 and includes your choice of meat and two sides. Tips to the bartender also will be donated to the film festival.

Pride in the Park by the Hudson and Reed Foundation, an LGBTQ+ summer social, will happen on Saturday, June 18, from noon until midnight. Stop by for food trucks, craft vendors, live music and a beer garden.
Read St. BBQ has announced the restaurant will be closing and moving in with sister restaurant Walton’s Smokehouse and Southern Kitchen. Your Read St. favorites will be on the Walton’s menu along with Walton’s larger selection of entrees and a full bar.

A Taste of Evansville, hosted by WNIN, will happen on Saturday, June 18, from 4-8 p.m. at the corner of Riverside and Main Streets in Downtown Evansville. The free event will offer free samples of cuisine from many cultures from Evansville restaurants and a sneak peek at The Great American Recipe series.
